THERE YOU ARE, ENTHRONED ON HIGH AND HERE I AM I LAY MYSELF DOWN LOW AND WITH THESE HANDS STRETCHED OUT TO THE SKY I WILL BRING PRAISE TO THE LORD GOD ABOVE ALL
There must not be a sweeter sound than that of the Father's children singing praises to Him. Coming together as the body of Christ to worship in spirit and truth is vital to our walk with Him. We were created to worship and desire Him. Not just the act of worship, but the lifestyle of worship that transforms our words, actions, and thoughts. Worshipping Christ in every aspect of our lives allows us to recognize our inadequacies and acknowledge His sovereignty.
Enthroned On High (Holy, Holy, Holy) is a song written by The Neverclaim that proclaims that very message. The chorus above is such a wonderful reminder of how we are to approach the throne of God; on our knees with outstretched arms. By humbling ourselves before the One who humbled himself first, we are confessing His goodness and recognizing His Majesty above all. In the middle of the song, there's a return to a classic hymn, "Holy, Holy, Holy", that boldly proclaims the God who is worthy of all our praises. Acknowledging His worthiness for all He has done and surrendering before Him in complete adoration is what this song is all about.

"I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world." John 16:33 NLT
It is frighteningly easy for us to be consumed by the everyday mundane of work, our problems, and the fears that control us. We live each day just trying to make it to the next. This scripture is so comforting in many ways, but the greatest is the truth it speaks. We are forewarned that we will face trials and tribulations if we haven't already. Yet, in the midst of the chaos, we serve a God who has already calmed the seas and tamed the storms. He has won the victory long before we have even seen the battle ahead.
This song, by Vertical Church Band, is a perfect reminder of the beautiful resurrection that Christ invites us to experience. Death has been swallowed up in defeat by the power of the One who rose from the grave!

One of our favorite things here at Essential Worship is the re-imagining of classic hymns. It is both fun and inspiring to hear musicians take songs that have a such a rich history in the church and breathe new life into them. So many of these songs were written by our forefathers (and mothers) of faith, and provide context for the history of the church at large.
So when a song inspired by one of these classic hymns is written, we love to hear it! One of our current favorites is Power In The Blood, a hymn recreated by Rush of Fools on their latest release, Carry Us Now.
Today we want to share a fantastic song from our friend, worship leader Tim Timmons.
Tim, who has been walking and dealing with an incurable cancer for the last 15 years has been with us at many of our worship conferences this summer. Many of you have had a chance to hear his story and heart, and all of the awesome things God has revealed to him in the midst of his journey.
His song "You Remain" is an excellent reminder of the faithfulness and consistent nature of our God, who does not promise us we'll never face trials or difficulties, but he does promise to be with us and bring about his purpose and plan in all things.
